CORAL GABLES

The City Beautiful was founded by developer George Merritt in the 1920s and is one of the first planned communities in the United States. Located southwest of Downtown Miami, the careful design and zoning of Coral Gables have ensured the preservation of its beautiful Mediterranean Revival architecture. Coral Gables Real Estate may technically be a suburb of Miami, but its cultural institutions, museums, restaurants (featuring almost every cuisine imaginable), retail, and vibrant after-hours environment keep everything needed in easy reach of residents. Condos downtown, single family homes of all sizes on quiet, shady streets, and fine schools make Coral Gables homes ideal for raising a family or for the young professional on the way up. The Village of Merrick Park is a lovely mixed use area with fine retail and dining partnered with high-end condos that are beautifully appointed. Close to US 1, it allows for quick trips to the Downtown and Brickell commercial centers to the northeast or to the Dadeland/Datran area to the south, by car or a short ride on the Metrorail. Miami International Airport is only four miles away! Downtown Coral Gables is home to corporate offices, including the Bacardi USA headquarters, banking, and consulates, as well as fine retail in the Miracle Mile area. Outside of downtown Coral Gables, the historic Biltmore Hotel is an absolute jewel. Built in 1926, the hotel was built by the Vanderbilt family for their chain of hotels and hosted royalty in its heyday. The Biltmore property includes an 18-hole golf course, and the Granada Golf Course is also close by. Between the two golf courses is the Venetian Pool, another historic landmark from the 1920s. The University of Miami was built on land donated by Merrick when the city was built as a university featured prominently in his dream of the perfect town. Today, UM and the City work together to offer residents exceptional cultural and educational opportunities.
