Fisher Island is a 216-acre world-class private island residential community. It is named for Miami Beach developer Carl Fisher who once owned it. No road, causeway or bridge connects to the island, which is accessible only by private ferry and helicopter.
In the 1920’s, Fisher Island consisted of one-family island home. It was William Vanderbilt’s winter estate. Later it became home to several other millionaires. In 1960, it was sold for development. For over 15 years it sat vacant before limited development began.
